This year’s TOMODACHI US-Japan Youth Exchange Program has fourteen (14) students – two more than each of the previous two years:
The Keio Team: Six students (three male, three female) are from Keio Shonan Fujisawa High School in Japan.
The DC Team: Six students (three male, three female) are from DC public schools (DCPS and DC charter).
The Tohoku Team: For the first time, two students (two males) from the Tohoku region of Japan, both TOMODACHI alumni, have been invited to participate in the program.
All students had to apply to the program and were selected through a competitive process, based on academic strength, in-school and out-of-school activities, leadership qualities and potential, and commitment to the goals of the program. We have a great team this year! By day one of the program, all three teams will unite as one TEAM TOMODACHI USJYEP.
